A three-storey Edwardian classical revival building that once housed married British officers of Victoria Barracks is now home to the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, branded as vA!. Known as Cassels Block, the early 20th-century colonial building is listed as a Grade I historic building and stands in Hong Kong Park on Kennedy Road, above Central on Hong Kong Island.
The centre is devoted to encouraging local art creation. It provides space and facilities for local artists, and visitors find modern artefacts and sculptures. It suits those interested in Hong Kong's own art scene as well as its colonial architecture.
The barracks building was restructured for its current use, and the centre was opened on 28 April 1992 by Leung Ding-Bong, then chairman of the Urban Council.
