Hungary's only ethnographic museum devoted specifically to burial history, the Museum of National Remembrance (Nemzeti Emlékezet Múzeuma) is located within the Fiume Road Graveyard. The cemetery has operated since 1849 and is the oldest in Budapest.
Jenő Ladányi founded the museum in 1991. It was previously known as the Mercy Museum – Burial and Mercy Collection (Kegyeleti Múzeum – Temetkezési és Kegyeleti Szakgyűjtemény).
