A glass footbridge over the Cybina river links the two halves of Porta Posnania (Brama Poznania ICHOT): a modern concrete building on the Śródka side and the 19th-century Cathedral Lock. Opened in 2014, this interactive heritage centre tells the story of Cathedral Island, or Ostrów Tumski, the oldest district of Poznań.
The exhibits focus on the part Cathedral Island played when the Polish state was taking shape, which makes the centre a natural stop for visitors curious about the country's earliest history. Porta Posnania is run by the Poznań Historical Heritage Center, a municipal cultural institution that is also based here.
