As the only Jewish museum in Serbia, the Jewish Historical Museum (Jevrejski istorijski muzej) in downtown Belgrade traces the history of the city's Jews from the 2nd century until World War II. Its scope also takes in the lives of Jews across Serbia and Yugoslavia.
Albert Vajs founded the museum in 1948. It is a small institution, receiving around three thousand visitors a year, and suits those with an interest in Jewish history in the region.
