Objects made of precious metals and gemstones, valued both as historical artefacts and as works of art, are the focus of this museum on the grounds of the National Reserve Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Founded in 1963 and formerly known as the Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine, it now operates as the Treasury of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine (Скарбниця Національного музею історії України), a branch of the national history museum.
As both a history and an archaeological museum, it suits visitors drawn to Ukraine's past and to objects crafted from gold, silver and precious stones.
