Founded in 1918, after the dissolution of Austria-Hungary and the establishment of the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, the National Gallery of Slovenia (Narodna galerija) is the country's national art museum. Based in the capital, Ljubljana, the gallery was first housed in the city's Kresija Palace before moving to its present location in 1925.
